Press-On Nails

From Sample Order to Bulk Shipment: A Wholesale Buyer's Quality Checklist

The exact checks to run on press-on nail samples — and the batch-consistency points that separate reliable suppliers from expensive mistakes.

Every experienced beauty importer has the same story: the samples were perfect, the bulk order was not. Press-on nails look simple — ten plastic tips and a glue pad — but the gap between a good sample and a consistent container-load is where wholesale profit is won or lost. This checklist covers what to inspect at sample stage, what to verify before bulk production, and what to demand from your supplier in writing.

Press-on nail set for wholesale sample inspection

Stage 1 — Sample checks (do this yourself)

  • Fit & sizing: all ten sizes present, sizes labeled, curve follows a natural nail arch (not flat)
  • Finish quality: no air bubbles in gel, no visible glue overflow around rhinestones, edges sealed
  • Gem & 3D adhesion: press from the side — embellishments should not pop off or wobble
  • Adhesive performance: wear one set for 3 days with the included tabs; note lift, moisture tolerance and removal residue
  • Color accuracy: compare against the supplier's catalog photos under daylight — this is what your customer will see

Stage 2 — Batch consistency (verify before bulk)

Request photos of the actual production line for your exact order, not marketing shots. Then confirm in writing:

  • Same gel batch and same rhinestone supplier for the entire order
  • Per-style QC sampling rate — a serious factory states a percentage, e.g. 5% random inspection per style
  • Rejection policy: what happens to defective sets found after shipment (credit or replacement)
  • Packaging spec: box size, inner tray, whether sets are sealed to protect adhesive tabs

Sample policy note: reputable wholesale suppliers support sample orders for quality evaluation. Sample fees and international freight are normally covered by the buyer, and part of the sample cost is often deductible once your bulk order reaches a certain amount — ask for these terms before you pay.

Stage 3 — A practical QC workflow

  • Order 2–3 sets per style you plan to stock (test wear, not just appearance)
  • Check the full size run, not just your own size
  • Open a few sets at random from the bulk shipment before distributing to retail
  • Log defects by style and photo them — this is your leverage for credits
